Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is catnip safe for cats?

Yes, 100% safe and non-addictive. Catnip (Nepeta cataria) is a natural herb from the mint family. The euphoric response cats have to it is entirely harmless — they can't overdose, they can't get addicted, and the effect wears off naturally within 5-15 minutes. It's been used by cat owners for decades with zero documented health risks.

How much catnip should I give my cat?

A pinch — roughly half a teaspoon — is plenty. We recommend 2-3 times per week rather than daily use. Why? Because cats can temporarily lose sensitivity to catnip if exposed too frequently. Spacing it out keeps the magic alive and your cat coming back for more.

My cat doesn't react to catnip — is that normal?

Completely normal. Around 30-50% of cats are genetically immune to catnip — they simply don't carry the gene that triggers the euphoric response. If your cat ignores catnip entirely, try silvervine instead. It works on a different receptor and activates roughly 80% of cats, including many who are immune to catnip.

What is silvervine and how does it differ from catnip?

Silvervine (Actinidia polygama, also called matatabi) is a plant native to Asia that produces a stronger euphoric response in cats than catnip. It works through a different mechanism — activating two separate receptors rather than one — which is why it affects cats that catnip doesn't. Scientific studies have shown silvervine produces a more intense and longer-lasting response in a higher percentage of cats. Our chew sticks are made from pure silvervine stems with zero additives.

How long does the catnip effect last?

Typically 5-15 minutes, after which cats enter a 30-minute refractory period during which they won't respond to catnip again. This is completely normal — the receptors simply need to reset. After the refractory period, full sensitivity returns. This is why we recommend spacing catnip sessions 2-3 times per week rather than daily.

Can kittens use catnip?

We recommend waiting until your cat is at least 6 months old. Kittens under 6 months are naturally immune to catnip's effects regardless — the receptor sensitivity develops with age. Some cats don't show a full response until they're 1-2 years old. No harm comes from giving catnip to a kitten; it just won't do anything.

Where do you ship?

We ship across the European Union. If you're unsure whether your country is covered, send us a message and we'll confirm. We're based in Europe so shipping times to EU countries are fast — no customs delays, no import fees.

How long does shipping take?

5-10 business days to most EU countries. We ship tracked so you can follow your order from dispatch to doorstep. If there's an issue with your delivery, email us with your order number and we'll sort it out quickly.

How do I use the 4-in-1 wall ball toy?

Peel off the adhesive backing and press firmly onto any smooth surface — a wall, a window, tiles, a door — at your cat's nose height. The ball rotates freely when batted, exposing different herb blends in each compartment. The toy is repositionable: you can remove and restick it if you need to move it. Clean the surface with a dry cloth before reattaching for best adhesion.

Can I give catnip every day?

You can, but we don't recommend it. Daily exposure can cause cats to gradually lose sensitivity to catnip over time. For best results — and to keep your cat genuinely excited each session — space it out to 2-3 times per week. Think of it as a special treat, not a constant fixture. Your cat will thank you by going absolutely feral every single time.
